You will open a course, work through its lessons, and track your completion and awards. This article shows how to get started from the Dashboard and how your progress and awards appear.
Step by step
- Open the Dashboard.
- If you are signed in, use the Dashboard to access your courses; if you are not signed in, sign in to load courses and record progress.
- From the "Get started" card, click the "Courses" link to go to your course list.
- Open a course from your course list.
- The course page shows its lessons and your progress for that course.
- Use the "Back to courses" link to return to the course list at any time.
- Work through lessons (they unlock sequentially) and complete them — pass any quizzes required to record lesson completion. Retaking a quiz prompts a confirmation explaining previous answers will be cleared and the attempt will be counted; the quiz resets only if you confirm.
- Open a lesson (lessons after the first are locked until you complete the previous one; attempting to open a locked lesson shows an error toast "Complete the previous lesson first" and the lesson button is disabled). Many lessons include a quiz that is graded by percentage against the lesson's pass threshold (default 70%). When you submit a quiz you'll see a percent score and a clear pass or fail message (for example, "Scored 60% — need 70% to pass. Review and try again." or "Quiz passed (80%)"). The Submit button is then disabled, so you cannot immediately re-submit the same quiz from that button. To retake a quiz, use the Retake option — a confirmation dialog will explain that previous answers will be cleared and the attempt will be counted; the quiz is reset only if you confirm. You must meet the lesson's pass threshold for the lesson to be recorded as complete; when completion is recorded you will see a short confirmation message: "Lesson completed". Course authors can adjust the per-lesson pass threshold in the lesson/quiz editor.
- Completed lessons are recorded for your account only; your progress in a course updates as you complete lessons.
- Complete the course to earn the badge.
- When you've completed every lesson in a course, the course will show "Course complete — badge unlocked!" and a badge is issued for your account.
- The "Badges earned" count on the Dashboard will reflect any badges you earn.
Good to know
- You must be signed in to load courses and to record lesson completion. If you are not signed in, courses and progress will not load.
- Marking a lesson you've already completed does not create duplicate progress records.
- Badges are issued automatically only after you complete all lessons in a course; they are tied to your account and then visible on the Dashboard under "Badges earned".
- If you need an administrator to change course assignments or the course catalog, contact your site's Admin.
